Conditions
General Conditions Research institutions, universities and other higher education organizations may have access to confidential statistical microdata for scientific purposes. Members should request the data via the research institution that employs them. SO SR may provide access either by sending anonymised versions of the data to the requesting institutions (on CD-Rom or USB device) or by allowing access to de-identified data removed at its onsite safe centre.
Conditions for Non-Resident Researchers Non-resident researchers may access data under the same conditions as national researchers.
Conditions for Students PhD students may have access under the same conditions as confirmed researchers.
Legal Framework Law Nr. 540/2001, as amended (art. 30).
How To Apply & Modes of Access
Public Use Files N/A
Scientific Use Files Conditions for access are:
- Submission of an application form (available online) with a research proposal;
- Signature of contract between the research institution and SO SR, specifying
conditions for access, obligations of the parties, measures to ensure statistical
confidentiality and penalties for violation;
- Signature of confidentiality commitment by every individual researcher
working with the data.
Secure Use Files
Conditions for access are the same as above; a confidentiality commitment specific to the onsite safe centre must be signed by every researcher. Training to use secure use files is not required, but can be offered if needed.
Details & Practical Information
How long does it take to obtain data? Obtaining the data depends on availability of anonymised dataset and promptness of contract signing. Average time period varies from one to two months.
How much does it cost? Prices are quoted on a contractual basis and depend on time needed to prepare anonymised dataset.
